SKIFRANCE DIRECTORY-LA ROSIERE

ituated between the Italian resort of La Thuile and The French giant of Val d'Isere, La Rosiere may be considered an also ran in the grand scheme of things. If you think that dear visitor you would be dead wrong.

It is a delightful little resort.  La Rosiere is in the French province of Savoie but makes claim to being the only resort in that province that offers International skiing. In fact the resort is combined on a lift pass with the Aosta Valley Resort of La Thuile, Italy. On its own La Rosiere offers just around 85km of skiable terrain but is much more impressive when one combines the skiing with that of La Thuile.

Oh by the by there is no point in thinking of driving up from Italy in winter, the Petit St. Bernard pass is closed at this time of year. The resort makes no claim to being an expert's paradise but I for one didn't mind the cruise from La Thuile.

GREAT SKIING GREAT NIGHT LIFE

Vast areas to ski

Best snow record

IN A NUTSHELL

Skiing starts at 1100 meters and there is also the rare treat of helicopter skiing available.

Straddling the boarder between France and Italy, the Espace San Bernardo offers a great mixture of cosmopolitan skiing and apres-skiing. Member of the "P'tits Montagnards" club which groups together the resorts specially adapted for children, La Rosiere also offers a large choice of apres ski activities and entertaining nights to spend with family and friends.

A lot of sunshine skiing on the French side of the mountain with the trip into Italy a great place to find good snow later on, and great pasta!. It is the only resort in the

 SOME THING FOR EVERY ONE.

TRAVELING TO   LA  ROSIERE

 Chambery Airport - 126km / approx 1 hours 40 mins

Trains arrive regularly into Bourg Saint Maurice, just 25 km from resort, which makes travelling by train to La Rosiere a very attractive option.

The drive down to the Alps is not easy by any means, but if you don’t mine spending a bit of time behind the wheel then it is perfectly doable. The journey usually takes between 7 and 10 hours but this very much depends on the weather and traffic conditions
